“Some can’t comprehend beyond their experience”
C.G. Thomas
Question… What possesses the ability to think rationally, nurture, incubate, heal, empathize, bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan? The magical creature called woman! One would think there would be celebration and appreciation for something that has the power to do all of the above, right? Well, one would be wrong.
From the dawn of creation this magical thing has been blamed for the downfall of civilization. The funny thing is, men have been charged with leading since the Garden of Eden. Adam dropped the ball yet Eve received the full blame. Y’all are not ready for that conversation though… I will save that for another day.
From that day forward we have been cursed, belittled, and forced to take on subservient roles by the patriarchal society. If the roles were reversed, would the laws be so hard? After all, Feminism has been fighting for years to achieve equality between the sexes. If women were in charge you would more than likely experience fairness and equanimity. In the wake of the Roe vs. Wade news I thought to myself how different things would be if…
Men had periods
If men had periods once a month, the world would be a very different place. Cramps would become a widespread male condition, and ibuprofen sales would skyrocket. Men would be out of work for days at a time and the economy would grind to a halt.
Restaurants would offer a discount to every menstruating man to satisfy the cravings and the restrooms would be stocked with free sanitary products. Could you imagine your favorite quarterback having to sit out of the Super Bowl because of heavy bleeding? I mean the ENTIRE world would stand still once a month.
Menfolk carried and delivered a baby
I remember watching an episode of “The Cosby Show” where all the men were pregnant. They were whining, crying, and downright miserable. Imagine that being a real thing… men carrying babies. I can assure you the word pregnancy would be changed to “Man Disease” and treated accordingly. They would make laws that allowed them two years off work, with full pay mind you.
There would be no cost associated with healthcare or delivery. People of color would die at a much lower rate if men were tasked with the chore of pushing a big head ass baby out of that little hole because they would assure the receipt of the best medical care. Additionally, the personal choice to abort; if you feel you are not prepared or just don’t want children would not be in the hands of others.
They were paid like women
Equal pay for equal work has been a rallying cry for momen for many years. If women and men are doing the same job, they should be paid the same salary. Before you start with that “men work harder” nonsense, studies have shown that women actually tend to outperform their male counterparts in the workplace. Afterall, we have to prove that we belong there. Add a little melanin to your skin and the stakes become far greater.
If men received the same pay the sliding scale would disappear. Traditionally, men were the sole providers for their households so naturally their pay was commensurate with the duties the role carried. Well today’s price is today’s price and things of old have evolved. Men are no longer the primary provider for the family. Women are tasked with having to work outside of the home in an effort to maintain a reasonable living standard for their families. If we have to share the burden of providing the pay should be the same.
These are just a few things that come to mind when comparing the inequalities that come along with being a woman. Some say feminism ruined the family makeup however, I believe the superiority complex that plagues the male society has been causing the riff since Adam disobeyed his Father in that garden.
I hope you’ve enjoyed your view inside the mind of Sugar Clark.
Be Blessed!
